IABC Golden Horseshoe is very proud to announce that our very own Jan Graves has been appointed to serve on the committee of the re-launched IABC  Foundation.

The IABC Foundation, which was re-launched at the 2016 World Conference in New Orleans this summer, focuses on driving communications as a force for good in business and society. Under the direction of the IABC Foundation Trustees, the IABC open call nominations were held Tuesday, 19 July – Tuesday, 16 August. Jan was among fourteen applicants vying for one of the five volunteer positions.

Jan Graves, who currently serves as Co-Vice President Finance with our chapter, is a Canadian communication and development specialist and director of fundraising for the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Jan joined IABC in 1990, and is a past President of IABC London and was the founding President of IABC Golden Horseshoe. She is a past director of the Canada Eastern Region and sat on the IABC Executive Board. A member of IABC’s former social responsibility committee, Jan has volunteered for the IABC Foundation and co-chairs the Gift of Communication initiative. Jan received the 2011 Lifetime Friend Award from IABC Foundation.

In her role Jan will provide strategic guidance and help execute the activities of the IABC Foundation as they relate to its four main pillars:

  • Gift of Communication– Providing the tools and funding for chapters to give back to their local communities.
  • Gift of Experience– Invest in experience-gaining activities for the next generation and those in transition. Includes scholarships, internships, mentoring and more.
  • Gift of Excellence– Support certification of professional communicators around the world
  • Gift of Insights –Grants for targeted research that results in case studies, white papers or other publications supporting member needs, IABC thought leadership and advocacy for the profession.
